This tool is a stouter version of their "Tomcat 3.0" which is a less pretty but technologically superior third generation of their original "Tomcat", 1988 KNIFE of the YEAR. The FatCat sports a less esthetically pleasing, slightly thinner blade of sophisticated VG-10 stainless steel, an alloy light years ahead of the original Tomcat's 440C. The FatCat is also blessed with an ergonomically superior design, especially its handle, and its locking mechanism is SOG's innovative "Arc-Lock", one that's far superior to the Tomcat's standard narrow lockback bar.
